Baptism is one of the most meaningful moments in a person’s walk with Jesus. It’s not what saves us, that’s the work of Christ alone, received through faith, but it’s how we publicly declare what’s already true:

that we belong to him.

 

When you’re baptized, you’re following Jesus’s own example and command (Matthew 28:19), and picturing the heart of the gospel itself. Going under the water symbolizes being buried with Christ: our old life, our old identity, put to death. Coming back up out of the water pictures resurrection, being raised to walk in

new life with him (Romans 6:4).

 

It’s also a family moment. Baptism isn’t private; it’s something the whole church family witnesses and celebrates together, because your story of faith becomes part of our shared story as a church.
